Learning Journal - Week IV
Educational Goals
My education goals in the CS program are to strengthen my engineering foundational skills. I also want to strengthen my programming skills by expanding my knowledge in python and Unix. I am working on obtaining a stronger understanding in machine learning, artificial intelligence and software engineering. This will be accomplished by working on small scale assignments or projects that introduce me into these respective technologies.
Career Goals
My career goal is to continue to promote within the company I am currently working at or to move to another company and take on a more challenging engineer related role such as an Architect III or Software Engineer.
Wild guess of your percentile of the
ETS Computer Science test
After viewing the ETS page, test description and sample test I feel that this test will challenge me greatly but is a great standard as a computer science major. The percentile that I feel I will obtain is around 80-90%. Why I feel this way is because I will try my best to set myself up for success by ensuring that I grasp as much knowledge as possible to set myself up for the best learning experience, which will provide me the essential skills to be a competive engineer.
Week of 1/28/2024 learning journal summary
This week I learned to set goals in a strategic manner by
setting small goals that eventually lead to big goals. If one sets divides a
large project into small goals it will feel as the project is progressing
compared to if one just sets one large goal, with none of the subtask
considered. I also learned how to write an argumentative essay; this entails
the following:
- Writing about both sides of the spectrum such as who wants it
- Why are people against it (vice versa)
- Focusing on the main objective through developing well-structured arguments
- Providing clear context of what the main objective entails
The goal of an argumentative essay
to persuade one who has an opposing view, to achieve this it needs to be well
structured starting from the introduction, body and conclusion.
Hi Flavio,
ReplyDeleteI think you have outlined very specific and well defined goals. I know that you not only enjoy programming and learning new skills in the vast field of Computer Science, but are also able to understand the material you read rather well. Therefore, I have no doubt you will achieve your goals. May you remain eager and curious to accomplish all your goals!
Hi Flavio,
ReplyDeleteI like how straight forward you are with your goals. I also like your confidence and curiosity in learning programming languages and your estimated score on the ETS CS test. Best of Luck.
