WK 04 – Learning Journal
Project 1
Work with some of your fellow classmates and go through your
solution to project 1: LDPM
- You
can work with up to three people (you MUST work with at least one other
person)
1a. With whom did you work?
Raquel, Jeremy, Monica.
- What
was your strategy for solving the assignments?
2a. My strategy for solving the
assignments is to perform research and watch the instructors’ videos, &
documentation before starting on the assignments.
3. Did
you start writing code right away? Did you plan it out on paper?
3a. I did not write code right away, I read
thoroughly the assignments but did not get a chance to plan on paper, instead I
copied over the instructions onto another google documents so I can edit the instructions
and make personal notes on it as I progressed.
- What
was THEIR strategy for solving the assignments
4a. Their strategy for solving the
assignments also involved on thoroughly reading the instructions, researching
external sources such as Java Strings documentation.
- How
would you change your strategy having worked on the assignment?
5a. How I would change my strategy is by creating a toplogogy flow diagram, this could have been a great blueprint to utilize as I was compiling the code.
- According
to your classmate(s): how well does your code follow the Google
Java Style GuideLinks to an external site.?
My code follows the Google Java
Style GuideLinks to a certain extent, I could improve on the conciseness of
empty blocks, formatting by tiding up the K & R Style non empty block.
7. Did
you know you can automate applying some of the style guide rulesLinks to
an external site.?
7a. I did not, thankfully I already had one
installed and I was able to reformat, thanks for the reminder 😊
- What
was the most challenging part?
8a. The most challenging part was
realizing how many different components went into this project, at first it
seems overwhelming. By slowing chipping away at it, I was able to make slow
progress and eventually get close to the finish line.
- What
was the most interesting?
9a. The most interesting is learning
the various methods, functions, etc. that go into creating a simple game, I
could only image the complexity of a enterprise level application or Forbes rated video game.
- What
are you the most proud of?
10a. I am most proud of once the program finally
started running, even though more than half the test were failing, I was glad
that I was over that initial challenge.
- How
did you celebrate completing the assignment?
11a. If you didn't how will you
celebrate?
11b. I will celebrate by continuing my studies and
always try to improve my knowledge and capabilities.
